About
Welcome to the Risk Assessment Tools!
AJI Indonesia developed these tools with the support of International Media Support (IMS) to enhance awareness of work-related risks and promote the awareness of personal safety procedures. This tool aims to assess the preparedness of assignments and the extent of coverage by journalists, media workers, and media companies while organizing investigative, collaborative, and incidental reporting on events such as disasters, conflicts, terrorism, and demonstrations.
The assessment points provided not only assist in understanding potential threats, but also assist Journalists, Media Workers, and Media Companies in identifying and implementing mitigation strategies to prevent the escalation of damage in the event of an attack. Therefore, this tool does not aim to offer recommendations on whether you should proceed with the assignment or not. It is your own responsibility, along with the editorial team, to assess and consider the risks involved and make a decision regarding the continuation of the assignment or reporting process.
There are three main sessions of the Risk Assessment you need to complete. Firstly, you must complete the Risk Assessment for General Safety, followed by Physical Safety, and lastly please complete the Digital Safety. However, if you intend to engage in collaborative coverage, it is essential that you also undertake the Risk Assessment for Collaboration Coverage Safety.
Some tips before the completion of the tools:
- Please spare your time around 30 minutes.
- Ensure that you are located in a peaceful and comfortable environment to enhance your concentration when working on these assessment tools.
- Preferable to use a laptop rather than a mobile phone for a more convenient experience.
- Establish an agreement between journalists and the editor over the proposed mitigation plan after recognizing the potential risk.
Important note:
These assessment tools can be assessed by all journalists, media workers, and/or media companies not limited to only those registered under AJI Indonesia.
